FTW Helped Jesús Alberto to pay for his studies in computer networking systems and data communication in Peru.

Jesús is a young student. He lives with six other people – his parents, siblings, and two nephews. Jesús is the first one in his family who has been able to move on to further education following high school; this is thanks to Kiva.
Jesús lives in one of the poorest districts in Lima. His father works as a warehouse operative while his mother is a housewife. The family’s income is very low. Jesús needs Kiva’s support in order to continue studying as he does not have the financial means that will allow him to finish his degree in computer networking systems.

Jesús really likes his degree as it a modern subject and there is a high demand for people with his skills. This degree will be good for Jesús as it is a good profession and he can help his family to move forward.

Jesús thinks that the Kiva programme is a great support for students who want to do better but who cannot pay for their studies and often have to give up their dreams. Link to his fund: http://www.kiva.org/lend/868542

FTW Helped helped a member of Dams group to invest in her children’s education in Vietnam.

Mrs. Dam, 37 years old, lives with her husband, son and daughter in Mai Son district, Son La province. She has been involved in the M7-MFI program from its start.

The family’s main income comes from Dam’s meager salary. Because her husband does not have a stable job, family income is inadequate. Her children are all young, so she has to spend her salary very economically to cover the family’s living expenses and save a small amount. Dam is requesting this loan to invest in the children’s education.

Dam expects the loan will help her children have a brighter future. Link to their fund: http://www.kiva.org/lend/870405

FTW helped Ana Carolina to buy a laptop computer to work on her business and complete her studies in Bolivia.

Ana is a young woman of 25 years of age, is single, without children, and is studying the humanities and sciences in her education.

She is intelligent, responsable, committed, consistent, sweet, loving, sensitive and sincere. She is studying in the public university in the city located in the Central zone which is a mixture of ancestral, colonial, republican and modern, where they combine ancient customs of the indigenous peoples with modern and contemporary life. It has a cold and dry climate with a temperature that varies during the day between 4-16 degrees Celsius.

Ana is of dark complexion, with black hair that is in style. Her maternal language is Aymará which she does not speak anymore because she studies and lives in the city. She lives her life with her parents who work as traders. They live in their own home made of brick and cement with a tin roof that has the services of potable water, electric energy and sewage. She studies the career of humanities and science education, and is in her second of five years of study. She enjoys educating children, and likes to teach them to understand basic math problems, her character is of service. “I study in the university and I work weekends filming all kinds of events…” she says. The advantage of this works is that it is in the evenings or during the weekends and does not intersect with her studies. The disadvantage is the lack of capital to invest in improving her work. Her dream is to be a professional to continue and get a good job. She wants to buy a laptop computer to work on her business and finalize her studies. This is the first sequence of loans for the institution in the second year that she has been working on professional studies.

It is for these reasons that Ana is requesting a loan to buy a laptop computer to work on her business and finalize her studies. Link to her fund: http://www.kiva.org/lend/869905
